FUROSHIKI

Japanese people have been cherishing their culture of wrapping from time immemorial. In a historical point of view, the idea of ‘furoshiki’ can be found in Nara Period, about 1300 years ago. As we all become more environmental-aware, the tradition has had a rather deservedly modern revival.

Rather than using throw-away packaging, furoshiki allows us to wrap and carry gifts, clothes, food and much more in a variety of beautiful cloths. For instance, if you take a bottle of wine or Japanese Sake as a gift, you can present it wrapped in an attractive furoshiki that becomes part of the gift itself.

After use as a wrapping cloth, it can be re-used time after time. Both the gift itself and gift presentation require meticulous consideration. And we believe it is the way that gifts and hospitality should be treated.
